Sacrophagus
Alexander
This
was found by Osman Hamdi Bey in 1887 during archaelogical digs in Sayda. Due
to the reliefs representing the wars between the Machedonian King Alexander the
Great and the Persians, it is known as the "Alexander Sacrophagus".
It is 3.18 x 1.67 m in dimensions and 2.12 m in height. It has a triangular
pediment, and a roof shaped lid. (İstanbul Archaeological Museum)
